Course Methodology & Architecture
Each of the courses starts with a pre-assessment, and then the student is taken through each unit, before finishing with a post-assessment. The actual units are broken down into lessons and topics. Each individual topic has a stated objective, a relevant amount of new information and finally a series of worked examples for the trainee to carry out.
One of the great advantages of the provided through Approved Courses is that by a short Pre-assessment Test, undertaken at the beginning of each Unit, it is possible to evaluate the trainee’s prior skills and knowledge level. Courses are then automatically adjusted, by filtering out known topics to provide a personalised study path (learning track). This can greatly reduce both the course study time and boredom and increase the feeling of added value as trainees can work at their own pace, with no time-limit and without classroom or tutor pressure.
The Post-Assessment (or Mastery Test) allows the trainee to verify their understanding of the course. It then guides them back to any areas that warrant further study. This focused training approach minimises the overall time required for training, yet maximises the training experience, resulting in an enhanced content retention status for the trainee. The post-assessment test can be taken as often as necessary to ensure that the trainee reaches the required standard. This "closed-loop" learning method also employs a random selection of questions in the post-assessment, which reduces the likelihood of trainees memorising the answers to the various questions.
